Here’s some of my buddies screwin’ around… Jake is always nervous about everything, so how they convinced him to let Tim jump over him, I’ll never understand…

Ridiculous editing and music selection by Rich.

After an exhausting weekend in TX for USAT Collegiate Nats I dragged myself from my triathlon/roadtrip induced coma to hobble to class. Once we were all there we found out that there was actually no class for the morning… great.

Going to be a busy couple days of projects/cases/studying…

Post on my USAT Collegiate National Championship experience coming soon!

Back on track…

I’m back on track with my tri training… with a vengance!

Yesterday I did some form work with my buddy Warren (who runs a 19 min 5k!) and got myself straightened out. I ran a couple miles and felt pretty good. I knew that the real test of this new form would be today.

I got up at 5:55, got some hydration, stretched and headed out. I ran 40 min nice and easy. In the past this would have killed my legs, but alas! Concentrating on my hip position kept my form right and I felt great. After my run I did a real easy 15 min on my cycle trainer just to warm down and get a feel for the bike for later.

Riding this afternoon with ONU Multisport after my Infectious Disease quiz.

Also got my diet right. Fruits, veggies, whole grain, lowfat dairy and lean protein only from here on out!

Triathlon season cometh.

Triathlon season is just around the corner and I’m stoked! Going to take my spring break as an opportunity to reset my body and mind for a great spring quarter routine of class and training.

Spring break goals:

  • Exterminate terrible eating habits, replace with excellent ones
  • Stretch every day
  • Core body workout every day
  • Get at least an hour a day on the cycle trainer
  • Work on my running form and get a 5 miler in at the end of the week
  • SLEEP

Once I’m back after break and have regular, free pool access I’ll get back in the water.

Here’s some photo’s from the last triathlon I raced, University of Dayton’s first sprint triathlon: (photo cred goes to Dad)

ONU Tri team before the swim. We blew the competition out of the water on this swim!

Mounting up on my Kestrel. My first time starting w/my shoes clipped in and it was definitely a failure… Gotta love that argyle kit though!

After my lengthened bike (misdirection compliments of being 2nd out of the water and a flagger who wasn’t paying attention) I was mad. When I get mad I push it. I definitely should have taking it easier on the hilly run, but I didn’t. Then I barfed almost immediately after crossing the finish right in front of the whole crowd. Hilarious in retrospect…

Lots of learning experiences during this try. Reminds and motivates me for the improvements I can’t wait to make this season!

the end is the beginning…

Today we had our last lecture in our therapeutic modules! Finally, I’m reaching the end. Just Capstone stands between me and Rotations. May 2011 I’ll get that PharmD and start the best adventure yet!

¡Feliz Cinco de Montho!

Pharmacy Administration exam 2 is done! I think it was the easiest exam I’ve had in years… Now its time to celebrate February’s Cinco de Montho!

If you are unfamiliar with the celebration of Cinco de Montho let me explain..

A regional holiday in Mexico, the 5th of May is a day of celebration honoring the defeat of the French Army by the far smaller and less equipped Mexican Army.

The College Cinco de Mayo Experience is a very different celebration, saving only the original purpose of celebrating… uh… “freedom”. Out of the pure awesomeness of the Patron/El Toro induced debauchery, naturally, came the desire to repeat the experience.

The decision that this yearly celebration on the 5th of May should be extrapolated to the 5th of every month is attributed to the BTB Cantina (Respect) and has since been supported the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor, MI college demographic.

You better believe the dudes at BTB do it right! 50 cent tequila shots and dollar beers to start the evening!? I wish I was there and so should you…

So take this opportunity, the 5th of every month, to support your local Mexican Restaurant, get loco on margaritas and tequila, and have yourself a fiesta!

¡Feliz Cinco de Montho!

February boredom… the calm before the storm!

Our Pharmacy Administration Module is not remotely difficult in terms of concepts/material. It does, however, become a balancing act of different projects and finalizing paperwork, etc. for capstone and rotations. No problems so far.

The biggest challenge now is fighting off boredom, complacency and wasting time…

I’ve been riding my trainer, doing some core workouts and climbing but I gotta get my ass in gear for triathlon season!

Once we’re done with February everything comes fast and hard: Capstone, Independent study in Cardiology, Triathlons!

Upcoming events:

Feb 26 - Mar 7: ONU MultiSport spring break in Gainseville, FL with Trigators

Apr 17: USA Triathlon Collegiate Nationals in Lubbock, TX

May 8: 5/4 Bank Riverbank Run in Grand Rapids, MI

May 16: Cleveland 1/2 Marathon in Cleveland, OH

Friday…

This Friday has been awesome! Scored a 97.7% on my Diabetes/treatment exam in Endocrine, had a great swim and an awesome run! I’m working this weekend… so it looks like I’m working straight through this one for next weekend’s trip to Wake Nation.
